We should paint it oversized on the facade, write it on every single brick and plaster it on the interior walls, and it still wouldn't be nearly enough. We could shout it from the rooftops, make an announcement on the train or whisper it from ear to ear, and still not enough people would hear it.
For now, we are simply overwhelmed. Half a million is not just a number to us. It shows how strong the need for open spaces and alternative culture is in the region. We would like to thank you all very much for your support.
It is certainly appropriate to jump for joy and do somersaults, offer congratulations and dance with delight.
We laugh so hard that champagne, beer and cola come out of our noses when we think about how it all started.
November was marked by stomach aches, trembling hands and shrugging shoulders. We'll give it a try, we thought. And we did. All of us together.
May we never lose that feeling of dizzying embraces of joy, and may it continue to drive us forward!
We want to become more radical, wilder, and share our spaces even more with those who need them. Take advantage of the opportunities, realise your ideas and dreams, and bring even more life into the house! Get active and get involved in KuZeB and the collective! Today it's a piece of the pie, and in the future we want the whole bakery together with you.
„Those people“, those in the clothing factory, birds of paradise, punks and alternative types. Call us what you like, but we're now neighbours who aren't moving away.
Now we're staying – forever.
KuZeB will remain, as will all other locations, somehow and now more than ever!
Celebrate with us the preservation of the KuZeB and the end of the ‘KuZeB bleibt!’ campaign!
The KuZeB association has been running the autonomous Bremgarten cultural centre in a former clothing factory for 32 years. It is the oldest non-commercial, self-managed and independently financed cultural and political centre in Switzerland.
The KuZeB is an intergenerational project and forms an important hub for people from local communities in rural Aargau. The building and its infrastructure offer a platform that is also used by people from all over Switzerland and beyond its borders.
The owners want to sell the property after 32 years of collective use. As we are convinced of the importance of the cultural centre, a support association was founded to raise the necessary funds for a purchase through the 'KuZeB bleibt' campaign. The aim of the purchase is to remove the land from speculation and thus secure the cultural centre in the old clothes factory in the long term. We have agreed a purchase price of CHF 3.75 million with the owner family. Thanks to the pledge of a large donation of CHF 3.25 million from a private individual, a successful purchase is close at hand. On the condition that we generate CHF 500,000 in donations with the KuZeB bleibt campaign, we will receive the agreed amount.
Thanks to the pledge of a major donation of CHF 3.25 million from a private individual, a successful purchase deal is imminent. We will receive the agreed amount on condition that we generate CHF 500,000 in donations with the KuZeB bleibt campaign.
We are not quite where we need to be yet. Anyone familiar with buying a house knows that there are more costs ahead of us. We have to pay the notary, our lawyers and other additional costs associated with the transfer of ownership.
Perhaps we are forced to have dreams for the future. We need lots of hard-working hands; a flat roof and a half-hipped roof construction site await us.
We are grateful for any support for these projects, whether in the form of assistance or financial contributions.
The prospects we gain through this purchase are vast and overwhelming. We will continue to care for the factory and pour love and dedication into these walls.
This is our house!
Just as new people can get involved in the KuZeB project, everyone is welcome to support this campaign. In addition to monetary donations, there are countless other ways to get involved: From organising solidarity actions such as demos, parties or solidarity dinners to producing merch or helping with thinking and writing. Get in touch or come along to events and get to know us. (mitmachen@kuzeb-bleibt.ch)
Every donation counts! Make a bank transfer with a QR code to save us fees or use the Twint option. Donations (from CHF 100.- and minus the fees) can be refunded on request if the campaign does not reach its goal. However, this requires you to provide your email address in the payment notification.
For large donations, please contact us directly: info@kuzeb-bleibt.ch

In order to minimise the bureaucratic effort, we ask for your understanding that a refund will only be made after the campaign has ended without success. We would also like to point out that this is only possible for digital donations (IBAN, Twint) and that an email must be included as payment notification. Donations that are not reclaimed will be donated to projects related to autonomous open space culture. We will communicate this transparently in due course.

We will continue to stand up for this in the future.
We want to maintain a non-commercial cultural centre. This means that we want to maintain low admission prices for events (CHF 10.- for years) and continue to charge only the purchase price plus the option of making a donation for drinks. This is also intended to break down barriers to getting to know the project and actively participating in it. We want to maintain the highest possible degree of autonomy
We want to maintain the highest possible degree of autonomy. It is important to us that KuZeB is primarily supported by the people who are active here and who identify with our project in solidarity. We do not want any state or private funding that is tied to incompatible conditions. We also look out for each other ourselves and therefore reject drastic official requirements and police in the building.
We will refuse to hierarchise ourselves. We want swarm intelligence. Furthermore, decisions concerning the house and projects within it should be made jointly at the general meetings. Everyone should be able to participate in discussions, regardless of how long people have been active in the organisation. Majority voting is not used. The aim is to convince each other and find consensus solutions rather than strategic alliances.
Apart from (mostly symbolic) fees for artists, we do not want to equate work with money. Necessary work should be organised fairly. Skills should be acquired and not bought. For us, work is experienced as a meaningful and self-empowering activity. Every personal endeavour is important for the company. We do not want to judge the importance of individual tasks. We want to encourage people to take on responsibility of their own free will.
The KuZeB should not be a self-contained project. We don't need a clubhouse, we need a fairer world. It should therefore remain possible to organise solidarity actions and events for other projects at KuZeB. Networking with solidarity centres must be given high priority. Autonomous cultural centres and free spaces are needed worldwide.
At KuZeB, we do not want people to be disadvantaged because of their origin, gender, sexual orientation, age or because of impairments or external characteristics. We try to sensitise each other in our behaviour and also criticise each other in a benevolent way. Internally, we try to strengthen structures of solidarity and bonds of friendship.
Together we can manage to preserve this unique space. Join us and become part of the movement for a solidary, autonomous future!
